Integrated Design to Fabrication Workflow

EastCoast CAD/CAM is committed to providing solutions for HVAC and plumbing contractors to help them compete and thrive in business. Implementing an efficient workflow is a smart business practice in any economic climate, ensuring that you can avoid cost overruns, material fabrication oversights, and valuable time wasted in redrawing parts.

The EastCoast CAD/CAM solution helps contractors become more competitive by working within in a BIM-compliant environment, making it possible to apply 4D construction simulation, energy analysis, and facilities management using Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, and other software tools with EastCoast MEP Design to Fabrication data.

Workflow

At the core of this technology are EastCoast’s Design to Fabrication tools and database.

Working within AutoCAD MEP to extend its productivity, EastCoast’s Fabrication for AutoCAD MEP provides a comprehensive industry manufacturer dataset with intelligent job management and part customization, innovative editing tools, and accurate spooling and scheduling. Sheet Metal professionals use EastCoast’s MEP Fabrication for Autodesk Revit MEP to take their fully-engineered HVAC designs and automate the conversion of system layouts with real manufacturer geometry and specifications. The workflow eliminates redrawing, and delivers fabrication-ready models inside AutoCAD MEP for final detailed coordination and downloading to highly efficient sheet metal plasma cutting machines. This total HVAC and piping software solution is where contractors can streamline their workflow, from initial design through fabrication.

Workflow

Drawings can arrive in the EastCoast Design to Fabrication workflow from Autodesk Revit MEP after initial design and analysis, or can be created directly within AutoCAD MEP.  The EastCoast CAD/CAM solution provides tools and real manufacture data that enrich the model, providing clear visualization, accurate reporting and detailing to ensure that the HVAC and piping implementation is correctly applied in full detail to the design. The resulting accurately dimensioned and fully specified drawings, spools and schedules are ready for prefabrication, and can be used for the full spectrum of design to construction, supporting life-cycle management of the data.

‘We encourage every contractor in this business to advance their knowledge of the design process changes occurring now in the MEP industry."

               - Dave Quigley, Director CEO, EastCoast CAD/CAM

Fabrication efficiencies are ensured when real manufacture parts and fully dimensioned ducts are part of the design process right from the beginning. By designing with the EastCoast CAD/CAM Design to Fabrication toolset, HVAC and piping contractors have a clear picture of cost and material needs.
