PIPING AND PLUMBING ADDED TO PATENTED DESIGN TO FABRICATION WORFLOW FROM AUTODESK REVIT MEP
Marlborough, MA (December 19, 2011) – EastCoast CAD/CAM has just released MEP Fabrication Version 2.2, now with full support for plumbing and piping systems as well as HVAC duct systems. The software uses the EastCoast patented “Design to FabricationTM workflow, a fast, straightforward process that takes generic Autodesk Revit MEP engineering models, and automatically converts the system layouts to real manufacturer geometry and specifications to create fabrication-readied AutoCAD MEP drawings.
MEP Fabrication was first demonstrated at Autodesk University 2011 and garnered high interest from the AEC Construction industry. “We’re making it easier for engineers and contractors to work together, which vastly improves the time to construction, and the quality of the design”, explained David Derocher, President of EastCoast CAD/CAM. “Working within the Autodesk-powered BIM workspace, we continually provide software tools that give the contractor a time saving advantage and the specifications control that they need over their work. No redrawing is required.”
The mapping user interface makes it very easy to identify source and target settings to fine tune the routing preference and real manufacturer fittings to work with for each type of part. As well, the system lets you specify the desired joints (flanges) during the conversion. The end result is a piping system that can immediately be estimated, coordinated, spooled, scheduled, and delivered to prefabrication. EastCoast CAD/CAM is currently shipping MEP Fabrication to customers who have active subscriptions, and has made it generally available to new subscribers.
