Maui, Hawaii (October 20, 2008) – EastCoast CAD/CAM announces immediate availability of its newest HVAC fabrication software, Fabrication for AutoCAD MEP, at the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association’s (SMACNA) 2008 Annual Convention. EastCoast is presenting its new fabrication software tool as part as an overall building construction solution with the company’s strategic partner, Autodesk, Inc. Over the past eighteen months engineering teams from the two companies have collaborated to develop the first fully embedded fabrication toolset for HVAC and Piping inside AutoCAD MEP software, the version of AutoCAD® software designed specifically for mechanical, electrical and plumbing designers and drafters . Throughout the four days of the convention, EastCoast and Autodesk are jointly demonstrating this fully embedded fabrication toolset. Sheet metal contractors wishing to see firsthand how this remarkable solution will advance and change the way contractors design and fabricate future construction projects should contact Dave Quigley, EastCoast’s Director of Product and Business Development at 1-603-490-2558 to schedule a private demo in the EastCoast Suite at the Wailea Marriott Resort.
When introduced to EastCoast CAD/CAM’s new software, Fabrication for AutoCAD MEP, contractors should immediately recognize the value of this toolset, which offers exceptional speed, efficiency, functionality, and ease of use. Since AutoCAD MEP is built on the familiar AutoCAD platform, organizations with basic AutoCAD experience have the opportunity to achieve rapid productivity gains with discipline-specific system design tools. And, because Fabrication for AutoCAD MEP works from within the AutoCAD MEP software environment, organizations can be up and running and using the full fabrication solution on real projects with real manufacturer parts data, with minimal transition time. Owners and building professionals may also find the capabilities they have been seeking for years. With AutoCAD MEP, they can create and share documentation efficiently with intuitive system drawing and design tools, and with EastCoast Fabrication for AutoCAD MEP, extend their system design through to construction.
According to EastCoast Fabrication for AutoCAD MEP beta user, Tara Faircloth from Lake Mechanical Contractors, “The MEP engineering and contracting communities are leaning more and more towards an integrated process for fabrication, and prior to the release of this new EastCoast program there seemed to be a gap in the marketplace for an easy-to-use, straightforward, yet powerful AutoCAD-based solution. This software seems to fit the bill. Since it’s embedded into the AutoCAD environment the transition for AutoCAD users is seamless, cutting down the need for lengthy training sessions. I was producing work within hours of picking up this program. It’s extremely user friendly.”
“For several years, Autodesk has collaborated with EastCoast CAD to improve industry efficiency by advancing the integration of digital design models and MEP fabrication,” said Tony Sinisi, MEP Business Line Manager, Autodesk AEC Solutions. “We believe our customers will benefit from this new release and the ability to use actual manufacturer spec and parts within their design platform, and look forward to continuing our work with EastCoast to extend this fabrication capability to our building information modeling (BIM) software.”
David Derocher, President of EastCoast, describes this very important product release as a defining moment in the company’s thirty-year history. According to Mr. Derocher, “There has never been a more important product release for EastCoast CAD/CAM. It represents our total commitment to Autodesk and their vision for how drafting and design will be done in the future.
Derocher continues, “I believe what our two companies developed in terms of seamless design-to-fabrication is something that will change the way buildings are designed and fabricated from this point forward. All in all, this is a very exciting time for EastCoast.”
